Spays.me – Micropayment Platform for Digital Support
- Year: 2010
- Type: Web platform for donations and micropayments
- Technology: Ruby on Rails
- Linked Project: Wollow – digital art platform
In 2010, we launched Spays.me – a pioneering micropayment and donation platform designed for digital creators and artists. The project was part of a larger vision called Wollow, a creative space for digital art that actually preceded platforms like Pinterest in both concept and execution. The Wollow brand was created in collaboration with professional designers and marketers from the Netherlands, and later became the name of our company.
Spays.me aimed to make it easy and secure to support creators through quick digital payments, especially in unattended online environments. The platform was built using Ruby on Rails, which at the time was a bold and forward-thinking technical choice.
Key Highlights:
-
Designed for digital donations and content monetization – including music, data, art, software
-
Optimized for unattended digital commerce and frictionless UX
-
Lightweight, secure, and intuitive for end users
-
Flexible business logic tailored to product and audience type
-
Built for quick adoption and the potential to reach critical mass
The Spays.me project marked the beginning of our journey as Wollow – not just as a product studio, but as a philosophy: building digital tools that empower creators and bring them closer to their audience, without barriers.
